Nothing strikes me with a sense of wonder more than the moment that I look up into the sky and see the sun nestled in a great expanse of clouds. There is a feeling of awe, a sense of the great scale of the heavens and the earth. It gives me a great reverence for the Creator and his masterpiece, and how much beauty he has put into his creation. As I render these skyscapes artistically, these artworks are a reflection of the handiwork of God.
Through this show, I wanted the chance to explore and develop my personal painting style. Using the image as a muse, I allowed each piece to take me in the direction that it wanted to go. I experimented with different techniques, including different brushstrokes, colors, and paint opacities. I also implemented different surface materials, compositions, and scales.
"I find myself frequently bringing out my camera to snap pictures of clouds, sunsets, and sunrises whenever I can. This one photo stood out from the rest. Its combination of the cloud formations, sense of light and colors continually draw me back."
